13th Festival For Computer Based Art Dresden
For all visitors of Dresden and our DresdenWalks guests as well, the festival for computer based art CYNEART takes place from 26th November to 6th December.
Within this event insights into the interdisciplinary and intercultural ways of thinking and working will be given. Furthermore new forms of cross-border communication and co-operation will be presented in the Festspielhaus Hellerau.
A multitude of events in the form of concerts, video and performance installations as well as computer games all aim to make the audience join in and experiment with the offered media environments for themselves.

From 22nd October to 9th November 2009 the 13th Week of Yiddish Music und Theatre takes place in Dresden. It focuses on two areas: with concerts, exhibitions and many lectures, talks, guided tours and movies, Jewish life in East Germany and the changes due to the political turmoils of 1989/90 will be reflected. Take the opportunity to experience two weeks full of Yiddish music, literature and Yiddish theater in Dresden.

From 2nd October to 1st November 2009 the 12th Middle-German Heinrich-Schütz-Days will offer you twenty events. Under the motto “Heinrich Schütz and Silesia” the famous German composer of the Early Baroque will be remembered in Weißefels, Bad Köstritz and Dresden.
Concerts and lectures take up a journey, which lead Schütz in 1621 together with prince elector Johann Georg I. to Breslau (Wroclaw). Detailed informations can be found on www.schuetztage.de

The focus of the festival, which takes place from 1st to 17th October 2009, is the connection of contemporary music with different kinds of art: dance, performance, installation, new media, video art, film, theater, music theater. The progam ranges from pathbreaking compositions of New Music to the latest experiments of electronic music, sound-collages and sound-environments.
Also the peripheries of avant-garde rock music, productions of independent labels and experimental jazz are part of the program. These exciting, inspiring, enjoyable evenings at the Tonlagen-Festival in Hellerau, in the Volkswagen Transparent Manufacture, the Church of the Three Kings and the Academy of Music certainly offer something for you as well.

From 14th to 16th August 2009 Dresden and its visitors celebrate by now the 11th Dresden City Festival. With up to half a million visitors and over ten thematically decorated festival venues as well diverse trade offers, the Dresden City Festival established itself as a fixed event and numbers amongst the biggest festivals in the new federal states. This year the attention is directed to “culture” and “classic”. As during the other years on Sunday evening a splendid fireworks will conclude the festival.

is a 3-day event that occurs every year in June in Dresden’s Outer Neustadt.
It was founded in 1990 and originally the BRN was meant as a kind of a free anarchic state. In the first years it even had a “fun”-government and its own currency.
During the festival the streets are filled with vendors selling food and drinks, DJs playing music and live bands. It is attended by every age group and class of citizens.

Until the 7th June the historic Dresden Music Festival takes place. Various outstanding artists and ensembles from across the world have been invited and focus on the »New World« as well as on the rich musical history of Dresden. Don’t miss one of the Festival`s fixtures - the Dresden singt & musiziert (Dresden Sings & Makes Music), which attracts hundreds of singers and thousands of listeners to the Brühl Terrace every year.

For the upcoming weekend Dresden will again be the capital of Dixieland! Already for the 39.th time this Jazz festival will reach its peak on Saturday and Sunday. On Saturday from 10.30 a.m. to 8.00 p.m. the “Dresden-Jazzmile” will offer on various stages between Wiener Platz/ St.-Petersburger-Str. and Old Market Square Bands with the particular “Happy-Music-Sound” to everybody. On Sunday an Open-Air-Concert will take place at the Great Garden`s Open-Air-Theatre: From 10.00 a.m. various bands will be performing. In the afternoon from 3.30 p.m. the Dixieland-Parade will start at Tatzberg and will be touring along the river Elbe all the way through the historic Center of Dresden. A particularly exiting highlight of this popular music festival!
