“In Lapide Regis – On the King’s stone” is the name of the new large permanent exhibition at the fortress Königstein, which officially opens May 1, 2015, its doors to all visitors. After more than 25 years of research and collection work, one can now explore in 33 rooms the history of the fortress Königstein.
Through many exhibits and new insights the visitor can experience the Königstein startin with the Bohemian castle in the Middle Ages, to the actual military fortress until the founding of the museum in the new rooms in the gatehouse. So one will meet His Majesty Augustus the Strong personally, as a life-like reproduction in the form of a wax doll. He is accompanied by the King Frederick William I of Prussia and one of his many mistresses, Countess Orzelska. An absolute highlight is an eight-meter long model of a procession of carriages of Augustus the Strong and his entourage, which was modeled by the British miniature builder Paul Wells.
